Enter to Win a Holiday Cheese Party for your Classroom!

Celebrate this holiday season in style with a Cheese Party for your classroom, courtesy of Cabot Creamery Cooperative and GEF!  In the spirit of the Wonder Wheel lesson that teaches healthy habits, we want to send one lucky class into the holiday season with healthy eating in mind, and what better way to do this than to host a Holiday Cheese Party filled with nutritious snacks!

By entering this free raffle you can win Cabot’s award winning cheddar cheese and $100 to put toward the purchase of healthy snacks such as apple slices, whole grain crackers, low fat yogurt and more. There are plenty more healthy snacking ideas on Cabot’s website so start planning your menu today!  The winner will be announced on December 3, 2012.

Participating is simple and fun. Classrooms in grades 3-7 nationwide are eligible by conducting at least one part of the three-part lesson Wonder Wheel! Food for Healthy Kids and a Healthy World. Then, the teacher or group leader sends GEF their feedback or thoughts on the lesson to be entered into the raffle drawing. There are two ways to send us your feedback.  One option is to include your rating and comments about the lesson on the lesson’s page in GEF’s Sustainability Lesson Clearinghouse. Here’s how – simply click the Write Review button at the bottom of the lesson page within the Clearinghouse. You’ll be asked to enter your name and email address, but only the name you choose to include will be shared publicly.  The other option is to email your feedback to GEF and we will add it to the Clearinghouse where it will be displayed publicly with your first name and last initial. If you do not wish for your feedback to be listed on the Clearinghouse page, please note this in your email. We will not share your email address on the website.

‘Wonder Wheel! Food for Healthy Kids and a Healthy World’ is a three part lesson that can be completed in 4 or 5 class periods. (Remember, to enter the contest you only need to complete one part.) The downloadable lesson is complete with all educational supplements including a teacher guide, student guide and presentation. Activities include making cottage cheese and participating in a food package redesign competition. Lesson facilitators are required to supply necessary materials for the activities.

The deadline to send your feedback is November 30 so plan your lesson and be entered to win a fun and healthy party for your classroom! Please email service@greeneducationfoundation.org if you have any questions.
