The Green Thumb Challenge $5000 Grant Deadline is Sept 30!

Calling all school and youth gardens! Don’t forget to submit your application to GEF (service@greeneducationfoundation.org) by September 30 to be eligible to win a $5000 grant to keep your garden growing!

Gardens are an amazing way to connect students with nature while using the garden as a valuable teaching tool. Over the years, GEF has seen some truly inspiring gardens. Take the GRuB project for example. Last year, this grant runner up shared how their garden engages and empowers under-served youth so they can graduate from high school while contributing to the local food system. Wow!

All types of garden projects are encouraged to apply. The 2011 grant winner, Andrew Cooke Magnet School, showed GEF how they took a repurposed greenhouse and transformed it into a hub for science curriculum and community events!

What’s your garden story? All existing school and community gardens are encouraged to apply by sharing their project through photos, videos, artwork, poems, or any other medium! The winner will demonstrate how their program has been successful and has impacted the lives of kids and their community. Read the full contest rules on GEF’s Green Thumb Challenge website.
