The Green Apple Day of Service on Sept. 29, 2012 is an opportunity for you to highlight the important work your organization does to create healthy and sustainable learning places. Service projects are already planned and registered at schools across the country and around the world. Now is the time for your organization to join this movement!
If you are interested in starting a Day of Service project, visit mygreenapple.org to find ways your organization can get involved. You can also watch and share a new video, or take a photo of a green apple to help spread the message that where we learn matters.
For inspiration, you should also explore GEF’s free sustainability programs that are part of National Green Week. Each program focuses on a different theme, such as energy, water, gardening, etc. and each has activities you can conduct with your group. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Conduct an audit of your workplace or home
- Set up a rainwater harvesting system
- Start a recycling program
- Conduct a waste-free snacks week
- Start composting
- Build a garden
See you on Sept. 29!
